Create A Page

Before you begin: Before you begin, you should have a basic understanding of the Page Builder

Overview

Pages are similar to Articles but can have a hierarchy, which sets them apart. You can nest pages under other pages by making one the “Parent” of another, creating a group of pages under a topic.

Steps

    1. Go to Pages section
      • Hover over Pages in the lefthand Dashboard menu and click the button Create New Page.
    2. Enter Title For Page
      • Note: This title will be reflected in the site URL and is important to search engine optimization.
    3. Build Page with Page Builder
      • Click blue Backend Editor button to activate the Visual Composer Page Builder, a drag-and-drop-based page builder.
      • Build page using the content objects in the page builder
    4. Set Publish Properties
      • Status
        • Published – Content is published and available to users. When crawled, content is available in search.
        • Pending Review – Content is unpublished and ready for review (for approval-based workflows)
        • Draft – Content is unpublished. Content can be previewed at preview URL (Preview Changes button)
        • Expired – Content is offline. Content will present 404 error unless redirected in Redirect Editor
      • Visibility
        • Public – Page public and available to all end users
        • Password Protected – Page available to only password-credentialed user accounts.
        • Private – Page is private. Page meant only for you and available only to you. 
      • Revisions – Click Browse to open Revisions Menu
      • Published On – Click Edit to edit Publish Date
      • Expires – Click Edit to edit Expiration Date
      • Readability – Readability improvements from Yoast, if any, are listed here
      • SEO – SEO improvements from Yoast, if any, are listed here
    5. Set Page Attributes
      • Parent – Choose a Parent Page (Optional) 
      • Template – If your site has a custom template, it will be listed in this dropdown menu.
      • Order – Pages are usually ordered alphabetically, but you can choose your own order by entering a number (1 for first, etc.) here.
    6. Set Featured Image (Optional)
      • Set a Featured Image on a page, just as you do an article. This is important if you plan to display your page in a List.
    7. Categorize or Tag Page (Optional)
      • Categories can be assigned to pages so that pages can be used in lists.
    8. Add Excerpt (Optional)
      • You can add an excerpt to your page that can be programmed to appear as the teaser when your page displays in list. 
    9. Publish or Update your Page

Frequently Asked Questions

 What if I cannot see a field that is listed in these instructions?

Click Screen Options at the top of the browser window. It will expand. Use the checkboxes to enable or disable fields. Please note that this change will affect the display for only you.

 Can I use the Page Builder in Articles?

Because content is syndicated across many channels, the use of the Page Builder is not encouraged in articles.
