The way you will target interstitials, will depend on the complexity of your selling method.
Option A: All Interstitials are sold as one unit
Selling Method: The interstitial inventory is sold as a full sponsorship for all impressions or ROA (run of app) for all advertisers
Targeting: You will simply target the ad slot to traffic your ads to all of the interstitial positions. If you sell multiple advertisers they will rotate evenly between all interstitial impressions.
Note: The ad slot is commonly named 'app_interstitial'
Option B: Interstitials are sold by position
Selling Method: The interstitial inventory is sold ROA or full sponsorship to each type of interstitial used.
Targeting: You will use a combination of the keyword targeting plus the ad slot to determine the type of interstitial used.
For Example:
The keyword-pair 'position=app_entry' = App Open Interstitial
The keyword-pair 'position=between_article' = Between Article Interstitial
The keyword-pair 'group={menu-name}' = a specific landing page interstitial
Option C: Complex method
Selling Method: The interstitial inventory is sold using any combination of ROS, exclusive and page targeting as needed. (Note: This does require advanced knowledge of DFP targeting to maintain.)
Set Up: The following keyword-pair options are available for all interstitial ads. They may be used in combination with each other to produce more complex targeting.
