Rich Media Templates

TownNews offers rich media templates that are installed in your Ad Manager instance to make it easy for you to set up and run rich media ad campaigns.

The available rich media templates are:

Responsive Wallpaper

Description The Wallpaper ad uses the page background on the left and right side of your content area as an ad space to display ad units.

Because this ad unit is only viewable on large devices that have sufficient space to the left and right of the content area (such as desktop computers), smaller devices will instead display a fixed banner at the bottom of the site.

Example
Desktop
devices less than 1530px wide
  • Placement: A 160×700 will display on the left and right of the content area
Note: You can use the same image for the left and right sides or use two different images
  • Linking and tracking:
    • Each image can have a separate clickthrough link
    • Each image can have its own third-party tracking link
  • Max file size: 150K for each image
Tablet
devices between 730px and 1529px wide
  • Placement: The ad displays a 728×90 pinned to the bottom of the browser window
  • Linking and tracking:
    • Can have a separate clickthrough link
    • Can have its own third-party tracking link
  • Max file size: 150K
Phone
devices less than 729px wide
  • Placement: The ad displays a 320×50 pinned to the bottom of the browser window
  • Linking and tracking:
    • Can have a separate clickthrough link
    • Can have its own third-party tracking link
  • Max file size: 50K

The first time you use the Wallpaper template, you will need to contact the TownNews support desk so that the styling can be configured specifically for your site theme.

Adhesion Banner

Description The Adhesion Banner sticks to the bottom of the browser, overlaying the site content.
Example

  • Placement: A 728×90 displays pinned to the bottom of the browser window
  • Max file size: 150K
  • Linking and tracking: All ad sizes have the same clickthrough link and third-party tracking link.

Within your Ad Manager account, when adding creative to a line item:

  1. Choose User Defined Template
  2. Click in the box that appears and choose the appropriate selection from the list of available templates (Wallpaper or Adhesion Banner)
  3. Select Continue
  4. Upload the creative files and enter clickthrough and tracking links as needed.

Targeting The TownNews Rich Media Templates

For the most part, all rich media is targeted to a 1×1 ad position (usually placed at the bottom of the page).

This 1×1 rich media advertisement object must be on the page in for the TownNews rich media templates to work.
